Bodie Ghost Town |
| Bodie began as a small mining camp in 1859, but by 1876 it became a Wild West boomtown. At its height, around 5,000 people worked here. Saloons outnumbered churches and they had the "601" rule of justice: "6" feet under, "0" trial, and "1" rope. Each day, the equivalient of half a million dollars of gold and silver was processed. The first long distance electric lines were run here by Kessler to power the ore-crushing stamp mills. Bodie is the best preserved ghost town in The West; it looks like one night everyone just got up and left there stuff where it was and it's been there ever since. |
